DEANE MACQUET
Owner & Physiotherapist
Deane Macquet is a highly experienced physiotherapist with over 25 years of service to the North Coast and beyond. After completing both his Sports Science and Physiotherapy degrees at Stellenbosch University, Deane joined the Sharks Rugby team and immediately made his mark in the field. In 2000, he established Deane Macquet Physiotherapy in Ballito, following an introduction to the community through the well-regarded practice of Mrs. Deirdre van der Merwe. As the community grew, so did his practice, and Deane became a prominent figure in local healthcare, offering expertise in orthopedic rehabilitation, sports medicine, and musculoskeletal care.
Deane's career expanded further in 2009 when he joined the Sharks Rugby team full-time, yet he continued to grow his practice, maintaining strong ties to the local community through his work with the Umhlali Tennis Club and running clubs. In 2016, he opened a second office in Simbithi, expanding his reach even further. With a special interest in orthopedics and sports medicine, Deane is well-versed in the Mulligan and Mackenzie techniques and is recognized for his extensive experience in rehabilitation.
A longstanding member of the South African Sports Medicine Association, Deane has worked at the highest level in professional sports, including with national rugby teams, professional soccer, and, for the last 16 years, as the Lead Physiotherapist for Sharks Rugby. His passion for both sports and community healthcare has made him a respected figure in the field.
